April 11, West Lake Longjing Information Platform: Bailiu Village in Fuding City is known as China's No. 1 White Tea Village. Every household in the village owns tea gardens, with some cultivating as little as a few mu and others managing as many as dozens of mu. Following the establishment of the Bailiu White Tea Professional Cooperative in December 2006, scattered tea farmers were united into a strong collective. For years, the cooperative has faithfully upheld the traditional craftsmanship of Fuding white tea production, fostering a sustainable economic model characterized by a "cooperative + enterprise + base + farmer" structure—a small-scale yet market-oriented system that creates a positive cycle of growth.
"Thanks to this setup, farmers no longer need to travel elsewhere to sell their tea; they can easily handle sales right here in the village, often at prices comparable to those outside," says one local resident, highlighting the convenience and efficiency of the new system.
