Hupu Longjing Information Platform, May 19: Recently, reporters learned at the expanded meeting of the Fuding City Tea Industry Development Leading Group that the city plans to invest 7.3 million yuan in launching advertisements for Fuding white tea on CCTV.
According to details, the Fuding white tea ads will begin airing daily starting in June during the "Morning News" segment, which is broadcast simultaneously on CCTV-1 and CCTV's News Channel, and will continue through the end of the year. Once launched, these ads are expected to leverage CCTV's extensive reach and loyal audience base, significantly boosting the visibility of both Fuding City and Fuding white tea. Ultimately, they aim to position Fuding white tea—and the region's stunning natural landscapes—as a premier promotional ambassador, helping the product tap into broader markets.

Lou Yaofu, upon hearing Chen Jing, the owner of Jingcha Fang teahouse, describe a stunning tea garden on Dianzhou Island in Fuding, instantly felt a deep sense of longing.
I’d long been aware of the exquisite rarity of Fuding white tea. As Zhou Lianggong noted in his *Min Xiaoji*: “Mount Taibao was once home to the ‘Green Snow Sprout’ tea, now known as Baihao… Its leaves are naturally cool and refreshing, possessing medicinal properties comparable to rhinoceros horn—and it’s hailed as a miraculous remedy for measles. This prized tea is even exported overseas, fetching prices rivaling gold.”
In fact, the British royal family and Europe’s elite have always held Fuding white tea in high regard, often showcasing their sophistication by pairing it with premium black teas, delicately adding just three or four Baihao Yin Zhen buds to highlight its unparalleled elegance and exclusivity.
Back in 2009, I had the chance to visit Fuding—but traveling with a group meant my time there was rushed and fleeting, leaving me far from fully appreciating the tea’s rich flavors and profound cultural significance. Since then,
The more tea is picked, the more joyful it becomes.

In Songtao Autonomous County, the per capita net income from tea in Mangmazi Village reaches 21,000 yuan. "March brings joyful tea-picking moments—fragrant tea fills the Cotton Mountain; the more tea we pick, the happier we become, as the delightful aroma of tea lingers in Pujue." On May 7, reporters visited the tea plantation in Mangmazi Village, Pujue Town, Songtao Autonomous County, and were immediately greeted by a rich, invigorating scent of tea.
Mangmazi Village in Pujue Town is proudly known as the "Home of Tea," with tea cultivation now serving as the village's cornerstone industry. For years, the village's "two committees" have remained steadfastly committed to developing the tea sector, steadily expanding and strengthening this vital economic pillar—and in doing so, they've opened up entirely new opportunities for the local tea industry.
The village comprises 14 villagers' groups, home to 337 households and a population of 1,723 people, all of whom have effectively leveraged the region's unique acidic soil conditions to cultivate thriving tea crops.
The First 2013 Cross-Strait Tea Competition & Spring Tea Tasting Event Held
2013-05-03
Hupu Longjing Information Platform, May 3: Observing the tea strips, inhaling its aroma, and savoring the tea liquor—2012's award-winning teas from cross-strait tea competitions drew tea enthusiasts from far and wide. Yesterday, the inaugural 2013 Cross-Strait Tea Competition, dubbed the "Tea Immortal Contest," along with a spring tea-tasting event, took place at the Qixing Mansion sales office. Tea lovers gathered to enjoy the season’s finest brews and share their expertise. Four tea varieties, each represented by five samples, were carefully evaluated to determine their quality and ranking. Yet despite the seemingly straightforward task, even seasoned tea connoisseurs found themselves stumped—no one managed to correctly identify all the teas.
As soon as they saw the teas, smelled them, and took their first sips, participants immediately put their years of experience to the test. The serene and graceful sounds of traditional music—like "Silk and Bamboo Melodies," "Riverside Pine Breeze," and "Mengchen’s Warmth"—filled the air, creating a tranquil atmosphere that perfectly complemented the art of tea appreciation.

Half flame, half sea—A Review of the Early Spring Tea Market in 2013
2013-04-28
After 30 years of consistent popularity, China’s premium tea industry experienced its first-ever sluggish market conditions in early 2013. Early spring premium green teas have long served as a key indicator of the overall tea market trend in China. Represented by regions like Yibin in Sichuan, Sanjiang in Guangxi, and Wenzhou in Zhejiang, these early-season teas are prized for their early harvest—and precisely because of this early advantage, they’ve historically dominated the market as highly sought-after gift teas, commanding premium prices from the moment they hit shelves.
Following the initial rush of "first flush" teas, attention quickly turned to Hangzhou’s West Lake Longjing tea, which embodies the celebrated "pre-Ming tea" seasonal concept. In fact, West Lake Longjing has become the benchmark that shapes the entire market for high-quality Chinese green teas—especially those coveted as top-tier gift offerings.

On the 22nd, Ningde City’s Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau announced that the national standard for "Pressed White Tea," drafted and developed by the Fuding City Quality Measurement and Testing Institute, has officially been approved for establishment. The standard is expected to be completed by 2014, ensuring that pressed white tea will finally have a nationwide benchmark to follow.
Fuding is one of China’s top ten tea-producing counties/cities, renowned as the "Home of Chinese White Tea" and the "Hometown of Famous Chinese Teas." It is also the birthplace, primary production area, and key export base for China’s white tea. Fuding white tea is celebrated worldwide for its distinctive quality and unique health-promoting, medicinal properties—and its crafting techniques have even been recognized as part of the national-level Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
In recent years, the Chinese white tea market has steadily gained momentum, driven in part by white tea’s growing popularity due to its exceptional qualities and versatility in both transportation and storage.
