On the morning of the 18th, the 8th China Tea Industry Economic Annual Conference officially kicked off in Fuding City, known as the "Home of Chinese White Tea." Attendees at the opening ceremony included Liu Huanxiang, President of the China Tea Circulation Association; Zhuang Xian, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress; Zhang Jakun, President of the Fujian Strait Cross-Strait Exchange Association; along with Liao Xiaojun, Secretary of the Ningde Municipal Party Committee; Xie Yangjun, Director of the Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee; Chen Hui, Vice Mayor; and Wang Daizhong, Vice Chairman of the Municipal Political Consultative Conference.
Tea is a pillar industry driving the rural economy of our city and a vital source of income for farmers—70% of rural households in the city have seen direct or indirect income growth thanks to the tea sector. The municipal Party Committee and government place great emphasis on developing the tea industry. In recent years, they’ve boosted investment, promoted technological innovation, accelerated structural adjustments within the industry, meticulously built up renowned brands, and ramped up marketing efforts—all of which have effectively fueled the sustainable growth of the tea sector, boosting agricultural efficiency and enhancing farmers’ earnings. Currently, the city cultivates tea across 920,000 mu of land, yielding over 70,000 tons of tea annually. This has generated a gross output value of 2.35 billion yuan for raw tea and an impressive 5.8 billion yuan from commercial tea products. Among these efforts, Fuding City has particularly focused on strengthening the Fuding White Tea brand. With an annual production of 6,000 tons—accounting for more than 65% of the national total—Fuding white tea has soared in popularity, earning widespread acclaim and establishing itself as a globally recognized premium tea.
Zhuang Xian, representing the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress and the Provincial People's Government, extended congratulations on the annual conference being held in Fuding. He noted that the China Tea Industry Economic Annual Conference is a major event for the tea industry, as well as an excellent opportunity to strengthen friendships and foster mutual exchange and learning. He expressed hope that, through hosting this conference, local tea brands will significantly enhance their visibility, influence, and overall cultural standing, ultimately driving the tea industry toward even faster and more robust growth.
This year's annual conference was hosted by the China Tea Circulation Association and organized by the Ningde Municipal People's Government, the Provincial Department of Agriculture, and the Fuding Municipal Government. During the opening ceremony, awards were presented to the "Top 10 Economic Figures in China's Tea Industry 2012," the "Top 10 Chinese Tea E-commerce Enterprises," the "Top 10 National Eco-Friendly Tea-Producing Counties," and the "Demonstration County for China's Tea Industry Development." Additionally, the "China White Tea Recommended Brands 2012" were officially recognized with certificates.
Members of the China Tea Circulation Association and the China Tea Industry Economic Annual Conference, along with government officials and representatives from relevant departments across major tea-producing regions nationwide, as well as leaders from renowned tea production, processing, and distribution enterprises, research institutions, tea organizations, teahouses, and specially invited delegates, attended the meeting.
