“Businesses must operate with integrity and produce with conscience.” “Quality and safety control must be prioritized, while strengthening corporate management and intensifying government oversight.” “We need to ramp up promotional efforts to expand our market reach.” On February 9, more than 50 tea industry representatives, along with heads from relevant administrative departments, gathered at the 2014 Spring Tea Merchant Symposium to discuss the future growth of Fuding’s tea sector. City leaders Chen Xinghua, Chen Hui, Guo Rudun, Liu Xuebin, and Chen Jiyang also attended the meeting.
The meeting noted that in 2013, our city’s tea industry continued to expand in scale, with ongoing improvements in infrastructure—including factories, tea gardens, and machinery—and steadily growing brand recognition. Marketing channels were further broadened, leading to significant gains in economic efficiency, as the Fuding tea industry entered a new phase of development. At the same time, however, our city’s tea sector now finds itself at a crossroads, facing both opportunities and challenges. Key issues such as navigating the impact of the global financial crisis, adapting to shifting national policy directions, addressing overcapacity in the tea industry, intensifying competition within the sector, and ensuring product quality and safety have become critical priorities for steering the sustainable growth of our city’s tea industry in 2014.
The meeting concluded that controlling quality and safety, as well as improving production standards, will be the top priority for the development of our city's tea industry. Efforts must start from the source by controlling pesticide residues; strictly enforcing production thresholds to achieve standardized production, clean processing, and regulated management; accelerating the promotion and guidance of technology; strengthening quality supervision; improving the standard system construction; and perfecting a unified technical system. Regarding production scale, steady progress should be pursued by managing production scale, expanding market scale, strengthening and enlarging brand benefits, and increasing product brand value. In terms of economic benefits, efforts should be intensified in publicity, enhancing the value concept of products, accelerating scientific and technological innovation, developing deep-processed products, reducing production costs, and increasing the added value of products.
