Recently, at the Fulin 1,000-mu high-quality tea plantation base in Mashan Village, Dianxia Town, the Municipal Agricultural Bureau collaborated with Dianxia Town to host an event showcasing new agricultural machinery for integrated pest and disease management, along with hands-on training sessions. Technical staff from the equipment manufacturer provided on-site demonstrations, while machine operators listened attentively and occasionally raised questions. For any unclear points, the technicians patiently addressed each concern until the operators fully understood—and even took the time to personally guide them on how to operate the new machinery safely and effectively. This innovative approach of bringing the training directly into the tea gardens has been warmly received by local farmers. Integrated pest and disease management is a comprehensive control model that emphasizes "unified technical guidance, standardized pesticides and equipment, and synchronized treatment schedules." As a cutting-edge pest-control strategy, this approach offers significant advantages: compared to conventional farming practices, it can reduce pesticide usage by more than 40%, cut the number of treatments by 2 to 3 applications, and ultimately save farmers 20 to 30 yuan per mu in costs.

Chen Guangmin, the station chief and agronomist at the Agricultural Technology Station in Dianxia Town, Fuding City, told the reporter that they have established the Fuding Kanghe Plant Protection Professional Service Team specifically to carry out unified pest and disease control for crops. Initially, the team’s services focused mainly on rice crops, but this year they’ve gradually expanded their reach to include tea gardens, orchards, forestry areas, flower farms, and vegetable fields.

It is understood that Fuding City has been implementing this new integrated crop management technology since 2010. Relying on farmers' professional cooperatives in three townships—Dianxia, Qianqi, and Taibushan—the city has established three dedicated integrated pest control service teams. Initially, these teams focused solely on managing rice pests and diseases, but this year they have gradually expanded their services to include vegetables, fruits, and tea crops. So far this year, the teams have already tackled pests and diseases affecting 15,000 mu of various crops in Dianxia Town, with plans to cover more than 20,000 mu before the end of the year. Meanwhile, the city is further broadening the scope of its integrated pest control program, targeting 12,600 mu of tea fields, 17,800 mu of early-season rice, and 13,850 mu of single-crop late-season rice—all across 23 specialized agricultural cooperatives involved in tea, grain, fruit, and plant protection sectors from five townships. According to statistics, this year the city has applied integrated pest control measures to 4,425 mu of tea and rice crops, representing a 41.5% increase compared to last year.
