A reporter learned from the Fuding Municipal Development and Reform Bureau that the city will build a White Tea Culture City in Diandou Town, a major tea-producing town in Fujian Province. Currently, the project has been approved by the Municipal Planning Committee, and the preliminary planning and design, as well as land acquisition, have already been completed. The next steps involve submitting the project for approval along with related land-related procedures.
It is reported that Diandou Town currently boasts over 30,000 mu of tea gardens, producing more than 21,000 tons of fresh tea leaves annually. Notably, 80% of local farming households derive their income from tea cultivation. The town is home to more than 150 tea enterprises of various sizes and hosts the Min-Zhe Border Trade Tea Flower Specialty Market, which spans 8,000 square meters. This market handles an impressive annual volume of 30,000 tons of fresh tea leaves and 8,000 tons of dried tea, making it the largest specialized tea trading hub in our city. However, given that the current market’s capacity can no longer meet the growing demands of tea trading and industry development, plans are now underway to build a White Tea Cultural City in the town. This new facility will integrate tea trading, production, sales, information services, and the promotion of tea culture into a single, comprehensive center.
The White Tea Culture City is expected to cover a site area of 300 mu, with a total investment of approximately 150 million yuan. After inspection, the White Tea Culture City will comprise several functional areas, including a tea trading center, a tea culture street, a boutique tea exhibition hall, and a standardized production workshop. Currently, the project is being developed under a "BT" operational model to attract external investors.
