White tea has long remained "hidden away, unknown to the world," quietly thriving among the myriad tea varieties—its graceful elegance allowing it to effortlessly shine on its own. Now, Bai Mudan, with its distinctive charm of "silvery-white color, plump, robust buds, and a subtly elegant green-and-white appearance," has finally stepped into the spotlight, offering a subtle yet extraordinary allure that delights the eyes, nose, and throat—and over time, even deepens into a cherished connection.

The delightful "Floral White Peony" series arrives effortlessly, bringing with it a serene and uplifting mood. The dry tea showcases intact buds and leaves still attached to their stems, with delicate silver tips clearly visible. The tea leaves are uniformly shaped—long, slender, and elegantly straight—while their vibrant white color glistens brilliantly, almost shimmering like silver under the light. Its floral aroma evokes the sensation of being immersed in a lush, sprawling ecological garden filled with blooming flowers. As the Ming Dynasty scholar Tian Yiheng once wrote in his classic work *Zhu Quan Xiaopin*: "Among all teas, those processed by sun-drying are considered superior, as they best preserve the tea’s natural essence and avoid any lingering smoky undertones." This perfectly captures the exceptional quality that defines white tea varieties like this one.

Tea artisan Xiao Liu explains that Bai Mudan tea is crafted using premium-quality Fuding Da Bai tea and Fuding Da Hao tea, processed through meticulous techniques. Fuding white tea originally hails from Mount Taibao in Fuding, Fujian—legend has it that during Emperor Yao's reign, an elderly woman living on the mountain was known for her kindness and generosity. She reportedly cultivated a unique green-snow-bud tea variety, which she administered as a potent medicinal remedy, successfully healing countless patients. These ancient green-snow-bud tea trees are believed to be the ancestors of today's Fuding white tea. Today, Mount Taibao is dotted with tea plantations owned by various tea merchants who have contracted vast areas across the mountain. Many of the region’s leading tea producers now manage ecologically sustainable white tea gardens spanning thousands of acres—or even tens of thousands—in total. As the saying goes, "High mountains yield exceptional tea," and the white teas produced at Mount Taibao, situated at an altitude close to 1,000 meters, are celebrated for their unparalleled quality.

As the tea master gently explained, pouring the tea into the Bai Mudan cup is like watching a peony blossom unfold—its delicate orchid fragrance instantly captivates the senses. First, you savor the aroma; then, you relish the rich, lingering taste that leaves an unforgettable aftertaste. Even after 6 to 7 infusions, the tea retains its exquisite fragrance, smooth texture, and vibrant color, while the sweet, lingering finish continues to delight the palate, leaving you feeling utterly refreshed and at peace.

White Peony belongs to the white tea category. It gets its name from its distinctive appearance—green leaves adorned with silvery-white tips that resemble delicate blossoms. When brewed, the green leaves gracefully cradle the tender buds, reminiscent of a budding flower just beginning to open. The raw materials for White Peony primarily come from premium varieties of Zhenghe Da Bai Tea and Fuding Da Bai Tea plants, though occasionally a small amount of Narcissus variety buds is blended in for added complexity. The resulting unprocessed teas are known as Zhenghe Da Bai (Tea), Fuding Da Bai (Tea), and Shuixian Bai (Tea), respectively.

White Peony tea was first created in Shuiji, Jianyang, before 1922. According to local elderly farmers, its original growing area was Da Hu. Shuiji was originally part of Jian'ou County. As recorded in the "Jian'ou County Gazetteer," White Tip tea originated in two villages—Xi Xiang and Zi Xi—and spanned a vast region covering approximately 30 li. By 1922, production of White Peony had begun in Zhenghe, which soon became the primary region for its cultivation. In the early 1960s, Songxi County also experienced a brief period of thriving production. Today, White Peony tea is primarily produced in counties such as Zhenghe, Jianyang, Songxi, and Fuding.
