In 2013, both the sales volume and prices of Fuding white tea's spring harvest soared, signaling that the strength of the Fuding white tea brand is already gaining momentum.

It is reported that in 2013, the prices of Fuding Dahao tea needles and fresh tea leaves were significantly higher than in previous years, with fresh needles fetching as much as 102 yuan per kilogram at their peak. "Judging from market reactions, white tea has indeed entered a period of rapid growth," analysts in the industry noted. Since 2013, despite the general decline in spring tea prices across the country, white tea has managed to achieve both increased production and stronger sales—defying the broader trend.

It is reported that in 2013, Fuding City's total output value of spring tea reached 571.8 million yuan, representing a nearly 30% increase in tea production value compared to the same period in 2012. At the same time, the price of freshly picked tea leaves—harvested under consistent standards—rose by 35%. As a result, tea farmers saw a significant boost in income, and their confidence in developing the tea economy has also grown markedly.

"White tea has been experiencing rapid growth over the past few years, thanks in no small part to a nationwide network of distributors," industry insiders note. As efforts to promote Fuding white tea intensify, more people are becoming aware of its unique qualities—and many are now shifting their focus to the white tea industry. Liu Bengen is one of them. Having spent nearly two decades running a business in Northeast China, he made the bold move into the white tea sector in 2012. He shares that right now, Changchun alone boasts dozens of dedicated white tea specialty stores, a trend that fills him with optimism about the future of the industry.

Beyond the power of the brand, it’s the health benefits of Fuding white tea that have won over consumers. Reportedly, aged white teas—those three years old or older—are virtually guaranteed to sell well. "These days, we hardly ever worry about not finding buyers for our aged white tea," says a white tea wholesaler. "Instead, the real concern is how to source even more aged white tea to meet the growing demand."

Lin Feng, who has spent 20 years in the healthcare industry, is particularly drawn to the health and wellness benefits of aged white tea. Though not originally from Fuding, he recognized a business opportunity in white tea and decided to pivot his career, committing himself wholeheartedly to nurturing the white tea industry.

He said that in Fuding, many families keep a bit of aged white tea on hand as a health drink to help regulate digestion and improve gut health. Modern medical experiments and analyses have even revealed that white tea also boasts beauty-enhancing and wellness-promoting benefits—features that "perfectly align with today's consumers' needs." It’s therefore easy to see why Fuding white tea is selling so well and why its prices remain promising.
