Fuding is blessed by heaven with two treasures: Mount Taibao and Fuding White Tea. On February 9, Fuding City held a symposium titled "Tea and Tourism Integrate and Interact for Shared Development," marking the start of the 2014 New Year celebrations. Attendees included city leaders Chen Xinghua, Guo Rudun, Wang Jianhua, Liu Xuebin, and Chen Jiyang, among others.
"Fu Ding boasts beautiful mountains and waters—and China’s finest white tea." Can Fu Ding’s thriving tourism industry forge a strong partnership with its renowned tea industry, fostering mutual growth? The meeting concluded that Fu Ding now fully meets the conditions to seamlessly integrate its tea and tourism sectors, enabling them to thrive together. Both industries have already earned themselves prominent "calling cards," enjoying high levels of recognition and reputation. This makes them well-positioned to learn from each other, create synergies, and collectively attract more development resources—potentially unlocking even greater benefits for both. Moreover, provincial and municipal policies are actively aligning to combine the tea and tourism industries, paving the way for collaborative growth. Meanwhile, Fu Ding City has already begun piloting innovative tea-and-tourism integration initiatives, setting an inspiring example that could drive further advancements in this dynamic field in the future.
So, how can we achieve collaborative development? The meeting outlined a comprehensive development approach centered around "Five Ones": 1. Establishing a dedicated institution—such as a joint conference on tea and tourism—to enable the government to coordinate and plan development efforts more effectively. 2. Developing a clear, unified vision for tea-tourism growth, ensuring consistent planning, cohesive marketing strategies, and aligned policy support. 3. Drafting a detailed roadmap for tea-tourism routes, with concrete steps to implement specific projects. 4. Launching a range of innovative tea-tourism products, including immersive tea experience offerings, premium tea-and-shopping packages, and unique tea-inspired dining options. 5. Building a skilled tea-tourism promotion team, enhancing the expertise of professionals involved in marketing and promoting both the tea industry and tourism sector, thereby driving simultaneous progress and mutual growth in both fields. During the meeting, representatives from Fuding City’s tea and tourism authorities, tea merchants, and travel agencies actively shared their insights and proposed several practical ideas and suggestions that are ready for immediate implementation.
