Ye Ze'en, Assistant Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, attended the "My Favorite Famous Tea" award ceremony yesterday and said that Hong Kong has the world's freest trade system and is also Asia's preferred procurement center. The free flow of capital and market information helps Hong Kong become a global distribution hub for tea leaves and tea products. He expressed satisfaction with the successful hosting of this year's Hong Kong International Tea Fair and hopes to promote tea trade and tea culture through the "My Favorite Famous Tea" selection during the exhibition.

"Fuding Southeast" White Tea Crowned Champion

It is reported that the first Hong Kong International Tea Fair, co-organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the China Tea Culture International Exchange Association, attracted exhibitors from 15 countries and regions including China, India, and Sri Lanka. The exhibition closed yesterday, with the first two days open to professionals and the last day open to the general public. During the exhibition, the "My Favorite Famous Tea" selection was held, with the final results decided by votes from tea industry professionals and the public.

Zhang Zhengku, chairman of Fujian Fuding Southeast White Tea Import and Export Co., Ltd., which won the white tea category, introduced to reporters that white tea is one of the six major tea types (green tea, black tea, oolong tea, yellow tea, white tea, dark tea). It is a lightly fermented tea, named for its buds covered with white down, resembling silver and snow. He said white tea is cold in nature, with effects similar to rhinoceros horn, possessing detoxification, fever reduction, fire reduction, blood pressure lowering, blood sugar lowering, and blood lipid lowering properties. Since ancient times, it has been regarded as a sacred medicine for treating measles. Aged white tea is even more significant for health care and sales, and it has become a popular health food in Europe and America. He expressed satisfaction with this year's Hong Kong International Tea Fair and hopes to use Hong Kong's consumer platform to expand into international markets.

Over 250 Tea Merchants Come to Hong Kong to Exhibit

It is understood that the first Hong Kong International Tea Fair, co-organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the China Tea Culture International Exchange Association, attracted more than 250 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions, including Argentina, Mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and others. According to Ye Ze'en, Assistant Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council: "Hong Kong is very close to major tea-producing areas, has a developed transportation network and perfect logistics service support, and has all the conditions to become a larger-scale global tea market trade center. Hong Kong also has rich experience in market promotion and brand building, which can help tea traders add value to their products and brands and enter the global market."

Statistics show that Hong Kong is the city that loves tea the most in Asia, with per capita tea consumption higher than Japan and Mainland China. Major tea companies in the Mainland have seen the vast business opportunities in Hong Kong and have actively come to exhibit, using Hong Kong as an international market bridgehead to enter the international market.

Three Regional Gongfu Black Teas Each Have Their Own Fans

The three major Gongfu black teas—Tanyang Gongfu, Zhenghe Gongfu, and Bailin Gongfu Minhong—were showcased simultaneously at the Hong Kong International Tea Fair. Each comes from different production areas and has different quality styles, yet each has its own followers. On the day the tea exhibition was open to the public, they attracted strong interest from Hong Kong consumers. "It's not that I prefer red tea among teas; this red tea intoxicates with deeper affection," said a local citizen visiting the Fujian black tea exhibition hall.
