On March 15, the launch ceremony for the 2012 Fuding White Tea Promotion Month—themed "Quality Assurance, Honest Business Practices, and Consumer Safety"—was held at the Fuding Taibushan Sea Specialty Street. The event was hosted by the Fuding City Consumer Rights Protection Committee and the Fuding City Tea Association, with Fujian Pinpinxiang Tea Industry Co., Ltd. serving as the organizer. Over 130 representatives from local government leaders, industry experts, and consumer groups attended the occasion.

At the event ceremony, Su Feng, a senior agronomist from Fujian Provincial Department of Agriculture, and Sun Weijiang, Director of the Tea Science Department at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, delivered insightful tea quality reviews titled "The Quality Differences Between High-Altitude Organic Tea and Conventional Tea" and "Analysis and Identification of Key Quality Characteristics in Old White Tea," respectively.

How can you ensure you’re buying tea that’s safe to drink? Representing Fuding white tea businesses, Shao Keping, General Manager of Pinpinxiang Company, issued a Declaration of Quality and Integrity on behalf of Fuding’s tea industry: "We will rigorously control product quality to guarantee consistent, hygienic, and safe tea products. In prominent locations within our stores, we’ll display all relevant certifications and labels, ensuring transparent and accurate marketing of Fuding white tea—no exaggerated claims or hype—to uphold a healthy market environment. Additionally, we commit to clear pricing, precise measurements, and fair transactions, fully meeting the needs of our consumers." This declaration, presented from a fresh perspective, calls on Fuding’s white tea companies to champion honest practices, engage in responsible business conduct, and actively welcome consumer oversight—ultimately delivering products that are not only trustworthy in quality but also backed by genuine integrity and safety for consumers.

In recent years, Fuding City has placed great emphasis on building a robust tea quality and safety system. The city has steadfastly strengthened its oversight of tea quality and safety, while diligently carrying out special campaigns to ensure the safety and quality of agricultural products. In 2009, Fuding City formulated and issued the "Provisional Regulations on the Management of Fuding White Tea Sales Counters," establishing dedicated counters for Fuding white tea in Fuding, Beijing, and other key locations. Additionally, the city distributed tea quality and safety responsibility agreements to all townships and relevant tea-related departments. By promoting the development of pollution-free tea gardens, Fuding ensures top-notch tea quality right from the source. Today, the city has established 40,000 mu of organic tea and green food bases—making it the county-level city with the largest-scale promotion, earliest implementation, and most extensive experience in building organic tea and green food bases within Fujian Province. Fuding is also one of the 18 pilot counties (cities) selected nationwide to implement a traceability system for agricultural product quality. As Fujian Province’s sole pilot county (city) for implementing a tea production traceability system, Fuding took the lead as early as 2007 in launching this innovative system to track every step of tea production.
