From May 25 to 28, 2012, the 6th Shandong International Tea Culture Expo and the China Purple Clay Crafts (Shandong) Exhibition were grandly held at the Jinan Shungeng International Convention & Exhibition Center. A delegation from Fuding City, featuring 11 leading tea companies—including Pinpinxiang, Luye, Yinlong, Fangming, Ruida, Bai Cha Shares, and Southeast White Tea—participated in the event and secured nearly 100 million yuan in orders.
The 6th Shandong International Tea Culture Expo and China Purple Clay Crafts Exhibition, themed "Promoting Culture, Elevating Life," is jointly organized by the Jinan Municipal People's Government, the Shandong Provincial Tea Culture Association, the Shandong Provincial International Economic and Trade Federation, and other prominent entities. The event features renowned local teas such as Fuding White Tea, Tanyang Gongfu, Yunnan Pu'er, and Anxi Tieguanyin. As one of the largest tea industry gatherings in North China, this expo has drawn significant attention. Fuding City’s participating tea companies have meticulously designed their booths to highlight "Fuding White Tea," emphasizing its prestigious accolades, including the title of China’s Famous Trademark and the "Home of Chinese White Tea." Through thoughtfully arranged exhibits, traditional ethnic attire, and engaging presentations on the origins of the region’s premium teas, exhibitors are actively promoting Fuding White Tea to both local residents of Jinan and visiting guests. Notably, Fuding City is also making its debut at this event by officially unveiling "Fuding Bailin Gongfu," a time-honored black tea brand—one of the three legendary Gongfu teas that have long defined Fujian’s rich tea heritage—further solidifying its global appeal.
In recent years, an increasing number of tea companies from Fuding City have opened distribution outlets at Jinan, China's second-largest tea wholesale market, hoping to gradually expand the Fuding white tea market into Shandong Province and northern regions through this key gateway.
At the 6th Shandong International Tea Culture Expo and the China Purple Clay Crafts Exhibition, most of the 11 tea companies from Fuding City that participated have already set up distribution outlets in Jinan. Among them, Fujian Tianding Tea Industry Co., Ltd., one of the earlier players operating tea businesses in Jinan, produces, processes, and packages its products at the Bailin Tea Base in Fuding, before distributing them through Jinan's thriving tea market—effectively promoting Fuding’s white tea to the Shandong region.
According to Shi Zhengge, General Manager of Fujian Tianding Tea Industry Co., Ltd., Fuding white tea has been steadily gaining popularity among locals in Jinan, with this year's spring tea sales performing exceptionally well. Meanwhile, Fuding Jinming Spring Tea Pillow Co., Ltd., which specializes in manufacturing various tea-infused health pillows, has also expanded gradually into cities like Shenyang and Henan over the past few years—thanks to its successful promotion in the Jinan market—and is now enjoying growing consumer appeal.
It is understood that Jinan boasts three major tea wholesale markets, making it the second-largest tea wholesale hub in the country. Established gradually and officially opening in 1996, these markets host over 1,000 tea merchants, farmers, and factory representatives from 16 key tea-producing regions across China, including Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, Anhui, Taiwan, and Shandong. Together, they offer more than 10,000 varieties of teas and related products, ranging from exquisite teaware and packaging to a wide array of tea-themed cultural items. Currently, over 30 Fuding-based tea traders are actively operating in the wholesale market, specializing in both tea products and tea packaging. Their annual sales have already surpassed 100 million yuan. Notably, local distributors have also been granted exclusive agency rights for renowned brands like Pinpinxiang and Zhengyuan. In recent years, as Fuding white tea has gained increasing recognition in the market, many tea traders from Fuding City who operate in Jinan have begun shifting their focus—from selling oolong and black teas—to promoting Fuding white tea instead. Many of these shops have even started displaying prominent signage advertising Fuding white tea, reflecting their commitment to leveraging the Jinan tea wholesale market as a vital platform to introduce this premium tea variety to Shandong province and the broader northern Chinese market.
