Fujian boasts two legendary mountains: to the north, the Wuyi Mountains, famous for their exquisite Da Hong Pao tea; and to the east, the Mount Taibai, renowned for its delicate white teas. It’s said that someone once penned this elegant couplet: "Between these two sacred realms, no mountain can compare; With each sip of this fragrant three-mouth tea, all praise is unanimous." Here, the "two mountains" naturally refer to Fujian’s two iconic peaks—Mount Taibai and the Wuyi Mountains—while the "three-mouth tea" specifically highlights the premium white tea crafted by Pinpinxiang Tea Company. Throughout history, scholars and poets have always regarded tea tasting as a refined and elegant pursuit, making the quality of tea an especially cherished consideration. No wonder then that Pinpinxiang’s "Three-Mouth Fragrant Tea," with its unparalleled charm, perfectly complements the "sacred realms" in this poetic tribute—and clearly captivated the author’s heart!
In the world of tea, there’s a saying often quoted: "White tea originates in China, and Chinese white tea comes from Fuding." White tea is originally grown in Fuding, Fujian—and more precisely, it hails from Mount Taibao, one of Fujian’s famed "Two Mountains," located within Fuding city limits. But the legend behind this renowned mountain’s white tea is equally fascinating and full of twists: "It is said that during the reign of Emperor Yao, a virtuous woman named Lan planted tea bushes on Mount Taibao. Known for her kindness and willingness to help others, she was affectionately called 'Mother Lan.' One year, measles broke out across the surrounding mountains. Inspired by a divine dream from an immortal sage, Mother Lan ventured into the misty peaks and discovered a rare tea plant known as 'Da Bai.' After children afflicted with measles drank tea brewed from these leaves, they miraculously recovered. Moved by her extraordinary benevolence, Emperor Yao bestowed upon her the title 'Ta Mu,' while the people revered Mother Lan as 'Ta Mu Niangniang'—the Goddess Ta Mu.'"
Therefore, the people of Fuding have a deep emotional connection to white tea—they take immense pride in it. At the heart of this pride were the Lin family tea farmers who lived in the village of Qidouping hundreds of years ago. Nestled amid rolling hills, winding rivers, and blessed with a mild climate and fertile soil, the Lin family has diligently cultivated and meticulously crafted tea across generations. Their unwavering dedication to perfecting the artistry behind white tea—combined with an unyielding commitment to maintaining its exceptional quality—has ensured that this cherished tradition and superb craftsmanship have been passed down through the ages.
