Uruguay [Southeast Wonders] Tea — Bailin Gongfu C

Product Description

"Bailin Gongfu" is a Fuding Gongfu black tea, named after its main production area—Bailin in Fuding. Renowned both domestically and internationally for its exquisite, entirely handcrafted production techniques and its unique, superior quality, this tea is grown on Mount Taibao in Fuding. Located in northeastern Fujian, near the border with Zhejiang, Mount Taibao boasts high-altitude terrain surrounded by lush, verdant mountains and dramatic, picturesque ravines. Tea bushes here are typically cultivated among steep cliffs and dense forests, where their deep-rooted, luxuriant foliage produces tender buds adorned with glistening, snow-white down. Bailin Gongfu tea belongs to the small-leaf variety of black tea. The local small-leaf cultivar is particularly prized for its abundant downy tips, early bud emergence, and exceptionally high yields. A typical Bailin Gongfu tea features tightly curled, slender tea leaves with abundant, pearl-like white down that gives the appearance of delicate, velvety clusters. Its color ranges from golden brown to dark black, while the liquor itself is bright and pale. The aroma is fresh, pure, and distinctly fragrant with a subtle, milky undertone, complemented by a clean, sweet, and refreshing taste. Finally, the tea leaves reveal a vibrant red hue tinged with warmth when viewed under light.

Baolin Gongfu black tea belongs to the category of fermented teas, meticulously crafted through a series of traditional processes: withering, rolling (or cutting), fermentation, and drying. It is renowned for its reddish hue—both in its dry leaves and the color of the brewed tea. During processing, the tea undergoes a chemical transformation centered on the enzymatic oxidation of polyphenols, leading to significant changes in the leaf’s original chemical composition. Notably, polyphenol levels drop by more than 90%, while new compounds such as thearubigins and theaflavins are formed.

Bailin Gongfu black tea can aid digestion in the stomach and intestines, stimulate appetite, promote diuresis, reduce swelling, and strengthen heart muscle function. Black tea also boasts powerful antibacterial properties—rinsing with it can help prevent colds, ward off tooth decay and food poisoning, and even lower blood sugar levels and high blood pressure.
